Minutes from Annual Town Hall Meeting

November 17,  2011

Meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by President, Wally Pope.

Presentation by Officer Williams from the Clearwater Police Department.

Officer Williams reminded us of safety tips during the holidays.

Presentation by the City of Clearwater Solid Waste Department regarding

the initiation of Single-stream Recycling in February 2012. Residents will be given new recycling bins with lids. The recycling pick up will be expanded to include all plastics and corrugated cardboard. Glass and plastic bags will not be accepted.

Presentation by Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Frank Dame

The Aquarium’s attendance has increased substantially since release of the movie.  Parking for the Aquarium should be partially completed by Dec. 2011.  The Aquarium is also using the old Steinmart location at Harbor View Center, 2^nd floor for continued tourist attraction.

Presentation by Penny for Pinellas Underground Utilities.

John Welter reported that there is a lot of progress and hopefully by next year

we will have some answers.

Wally Pope introduced the Board Members.

Diane Welter presented a report from the Beautification Committee.

New lighting is planned for the entrance to the island.  We will use LED lights

and reduce the cost of electricity.  Landscaping has run into a snag with the loss

of our liaison at the City of Clearwater but hopefully, new associations will be forthcoming.

The motion was made and seconded to accept the slate of officers and directors for 2012.

Wally reminded us of the Winter Social on December 12^th from 5:30 – 7:30pm

at the Island Way Grill and also the Boat Parade on December 3^rd.
