Redevelopment Application for  Publix – Case no. FLS2015-11030

There is an active application to remodel the Publix supermarket at 130 Island Way, which may also impact other areas of the shopping center.

Recently residents of Island Walk Condominiums received a letter about this development.
There has been some confusion that the letter discussed building on the empty lot across Island Way from Publix. This is NOT correct.

According to the City’s Planning and Development Department:

"The existing Publix will be demolished and the new grocery store will feature the first level as parking spaces with the second level being the Publix store.
The site will be improved with enhanced exterior color and design schemes as well as the landscaping for the site.
The maximum permitted height is 50 feet and the proposed building will be compliant with this Code requirement.
The site currently features 246 parking spaces and the resulting number of parking spaces will remain at 246 spaces."

The Planning and Development Department website indicates that the Planning Staff will post additional comments about this
project on its website on November 30, and the proposed project will go before the Development Review Committee on December 3.
The public is allowed and encouraged to attend the meeting on December 3, and to contact the Planning Department for additional
information before that.

The city's senior planner assigned to both the Lincolnshire project and the Publix project is Melissa Hauck-Baker, who can be reached at
